A Steiner School has survived in Glasgow for 25 years and grown steadily during that time. Recently the school suffered a devastating fire, disrupting the education of 60 pupils and bringing sadness and disbelief to the core of a community of parents and former pupils. It is this community of parents that were the first to warmly welcome my family to Glasgow in 2007 and I didn't forget this as we made the city our home. The decision to educate our children there was an easy one with that level of reassurance and support. Now, 6 years later, our eldest son is already a year into his higher education and our youngest son has only a few weeks of term left before moving on himself. Both have proved to me the value of a socially inclusive Steiner education well over it's cost and I'm proud of what they have achieved and their potential.
It's less than two months since the fire and in that time the school has secured alternative premises, reopened after a terrific effort from parents, and unfortunately, had to close again. All this underlines the passionate commitment to the school from everyone involved, teachers, staff, parents and pupils alike. Support from those in the surrounding neighbourhood who regularly attended the many annual events and open days held to promote the school has also been appreciated.

Now the future of The Glasgow Steiner School is at stake. The day to day running costs associated with a school combined with the extra investment now needed to secure and maintain a strong presence in the Glasgow area are placing a heavy financial burden on the school itself. In an effort to provide as much help as possible I have committed to do as much as I can to support the school along with all the other parents, not just now but into the future too. If you are reading this then you can help too. Visit the schools website, write a letter/email of support or donate some money via our MyDonate page. 100% of any gift goes to the school and Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the amount by a further 20% as tax paid on your donation can be reclaimed. Even sharing this page and it's links will help enormously and you can share the thanks of everyone involved for doing so.
I'll post more information in the blog pages of this site, I'll be grateful if you take some time to read more about our wondeful school.
